💷 The hidden cost of saying yes

Hi Reader,

Can you believe it’s July already? That means we’re officially halfway through 2026, making this the perfect time to pause, reflect on how far you’ve come and decide where your focus should be for the second half of the year.

As business owners, we're often so busy chasing the next client, the next project or the next milestone that we rarely stop to acknowledge what we've already achieved. Yet taking stock is one of the most valuable things you can do.

So, before you dive into the rest of your week, grab a cuppa and ask yourself:

☕ What am I most proud of achieving so far this year?
☕ What's gone better than I expected?
☕ What hasn't worked, and what have I learned from it?
☕ What one thing, if improved over the next six months, would make the biggest difference to my business?

Then pick just three priorities for the rest of the year.

Not ten. Not twenty. Three.

Whether that's improving your marketing, raising your prices, refining your systems, building a team or finally taking that holiday without checking your emails every five minutes, having clarity on what really matters will make every decision easier.

Remember, the businesses that make the biggest progress aren't always the ones doing the most. They're usually the ones doing the right things consistently.

🎙️The Hidden Cost of Being Too Helpful

Have you ever said yes to "just one more thing" and instantly regretted it? This week's podcast episode is all about the hidden cost of being too helpful and why so many VAs unintentionally create scope creep without even realising it.

Being helpful is one of our greatest strengths, but when every extra favour becomes the norm, it can lead to blurred boundaries, longer hours and clients expecting more than they're paying for.

I share practical ways to protect your time, communicate boundaries with confidence and build a business that's sustainable in the long term.

Because healthy boundaries don't damage client relationships - they protect them. 🩷

Espresso Shot: Spot gaps in a client’s content plan with AI

This will quickly help you spot blind spots and missed opportunities without manually reviewing weeks of scheduled content.

Take a screenshot of your client’s content calendar or scheduler, this could be from Buffer, Metricool, Planoly, Later, ClickUp, Trello, or even a spreadsheet, and upload it to your LLM of choice.

Then use this prompt:

“Review this content calendar as a social media strategist. Identify:

· Topics that are missing or under-represented

· Content formats being underused

· Seasonal or trending opportunities being missed

· Questions the audience is likely asking that are not being answered

· Gaps in the buyer journey or customer education

· Repetitive themes or content fatigue risks

Then suggest:

· 10 new content ideas

· 3 quick-win content series

· 5 low-effort posts the team could create quickly

· Any opportunities to repurpose existing content into different formats

Present the results in a clear, practical format for a Virtual Assistant managing content planning.”

Ta-dah!

If you want more handy, VA-centric prompts like this, sign up for our monthly Espresso AI newsletter which will be sent out next week.

Have a great week!

Helloo! If you’re in the UK (or anywhere in Europe in fact), I hope you’ve survived this week’s heatwave. My coping methods have included the fan being on when at my desk, keeping the blinds closed and plenty of ice-pops throughout the day! 🥶 Anyway, back to business. With another change of Prime Minster on the horizon in the UK, you might be wondering what this means for your business. Right now, it’s probably not very much. Whenever there’s political or economic uncertainty, it’s easy to...
