Today officially marks eight years since I started my VA business, Virtually Priceless, and honestly, I'm not quite sure where that time has gone.

If you'd told me back then what the next eight years would hold, I probably wouldn't have believed you.

It's been an incredible rollercoaster. There have been moments where I've wondered if I was completely mad, alongside moments where I've felt unbelievably proud of what I've built.

There have been amazing clients, awards, speaking opportunities, incredible team members, some really tough decisions, plenty of mistakes and more lessons than I could possibly count.

But perhaps the biggest change hasn't been in the business itself - it's been in me.

​Building a business has challenged me in ways I never expected. It's forced me to become more resilient, make difficult decisions, have uncomfortable conversations, trust myself more and grow not just as a leader, but as a person too.

Looking back, I realise that every setback taught me something I couldn't have learned any other way. And every challenge helped shape the business (and the person) I am today.

So, if you're in one of those tougher seasons right now, wondering whether you're getting it right, please do remember growth rarely feels comfortable while you're in it.

Keep going. One day you'll look back and realise just how far you've come. 💛

😎 Make the most of a quieter summer

For many VAs, August can be a little quieter. Clients are on holiday, inboxes calm down and projects often slow as people take a well-earned break.

Rather than seeing this as a frustrating dip, try looking at it as an opportunity to work on your business instead of just in it.​

​It's the perfect time to:

• Refresh your LinkedIn profile, website or other social platforms.
• Get ahead with your marketing by planning content for September and beyond.
• Invest some time in learning AI and experimenting with new tools that could help you or your clients. Check out our Espresso AI newsletter if you’re unsure where to start.
• Develop a new skill or complete that course you've been meaning to start.
• Review your systems and processes to make your business run more smoothly.
• Take a step back and think about where you want your business to be by the end of the year - and what you need to do now to get there.

September is often when things start to pick up again, so use the quieter weeks wisely. The work you do behind the scenes now can put you in a much stronger position when everyone comes back refreshed and ready to go.

​Remember, not every hour has to be billable to be valuable. Sometimes the best investment you can make is in your own business (and yourself).
