πŸ’› There's no 'right' way to build a VA business

Hello and happy Thursday!

It's been brilliant watching our brand new All Stars community come to life this week. ⭐

We now have almost 50 people inside and I've loved reading everyone's introductions and learning more about their businesses.

What has really struck me is the variety. Some want to increase their income or improve their marketing, some want better systems and more consistency, some are considering building a team, while others have absolutely no desire to grow an agency and simply want a profitable, sustainable business that works for them.

And that's exactly how it should be.

There's no single "right" way to build a successful VA business.

Your version of success might be more money, fewer clients, bigger clients, Fridays off, building a team or simply having more freedom.

The important thing is knowing what you want your business to give you, rather than getting distracted by what everyone else is building.

So here's a little question for your Coffee Break this week:

"I'm building a business that allows me to..."

How would you finish that sentence?

We've got our first All Stars Kick-Off Call on Monday and I can't wait to get everyone together properly. πŸ’›

πŸŽ™οΈ Have You Built a VA Business, or Just Given Yourself a Job?

The latest episode of The Visionary VA Podcast ties in rather nicely with all of this.

Having clients, earning good money and being busy doesn't necessarily mean you've built a business that works for you.

In this episode, I'm sharing five signs that you may have accidentally created yourself a job instead - from having an income that's completely dependent on your time to allowing one client to have far too much power over your business.

And no, the answer isn't necessarily to build an agency or hire a massive team!

It's about creating something that's sustainable, resilient and gives you the kind of life you actually wanted when you started your business in the first place.

(Note: You might have picked up on this already, but this is something I’m pretty passionate about...) 🩷

Hello and happy Thursday! Is the VA industry changing? That's the big question we're digging into on today's episode of The Visionary VA Podcast, because the results of the 2026 UK VA Survey are finally here! This week I'm joined by Gwen Backhouse, Chair of the Society of Virtual Assistants (SVA), to talk about her own 12-year journey as a VA, the role of the SVA and, most importantly, what this year's survey tells us about the state of our industry. And there are some VERY interesting...

Hello & happy Tuesday! This month's issue of Espresso AI lands in subcribers' inboxes on Thursday, and it's a practical one. There's been a bit of a shake-up at the top of the AI world, so Martha explains what it means for you. Then she gets stuck into putting AI to work on your social content and your Q4 plans. Here's what paid subscribers are getting: Information about why people might be drifting back from Claude to ChatGPT now that Codex is in the desktop app, what Codex actually is, and...

Hello and happy Thursday! Will AI replace Virtual Assistants? It's a question that comes up A LOT in our community. And depending on who you listen to, you'll hear everything from "AI could never replace what I do" to "there won't be any VAs left in five years."I don't think either extreme is particularly helpful.AI isn't going anywhere. It's getting better incredibly quickly and it's already changing the way businesses operate and the type of support they need.So we need to be having honest...
