🔥 AI threats, disco calls and burnout

Good morning Reader,

This year, I started booking time off every other month to avoid burning out, and right now I’m enjoying a ten-day break as part of that plan.

I have been working on some big projects recently - not least moving my DIY VA course over to Kajabi so I can finally set up an affiliate programme for graduates - so the timing for a break couldn’t be better.

Taking time off when you run your own business isn’t always easy, but it's essential, not a nice-to-have.

Okay, it's time to grab a drink, get comfy and settle down to this week's Coffee Break newsletter.

🌱 For Aspiring And New VAs:
Are you overthinking it?

What if I'm not good enough? I don't have the right skills. What if I don't get any clients? The VA industry is saturated. Why would anyone pay me to do something they can do themselves? I'm too old. I'm too young.

...What if I fail?

I've heard all of these worries and concerns over the years, and I have the answers to every single one of them (and more) in this blog post.

So head on over, have a read, get over yourself and get on with it, doll!

PS: If you want to be a VA but are still procrastinating, you know I have a course that will get you set up quickly and painlessly, right? You could actually start today if you wanted to.

🌳 For Established VAs: Futureproof your business against AI

It’s an absolute certainty that the rise of AI will affect your business. Like any major shift (hello, pandemic), some businesses will take a hit, while others will adapt and thrive.

To help ensure your VA business stays relevant and in demand, I asked ChatGPT and Claude which industries are most at risk from AI (in case they’re your clients or niche) and which VA services will remain safe.

Here’s what they said.

💥 Bonus Tip For Everyone: A prompt to write your LinkedIn profile

Whether you market your business on LinkedIn or not, you should definitely have a profile on the platform for SEO purposes.

This is because prospects will most certainly Google you, and your LinkedIn profile will be the first thing that comes up.

So it's important to have a really good one.

If you're struggling to write your profile summary (it's the hardest section to write, so I don't blame you!), here's a prompt to use with AI to help you nail it.

THE PROMPT

Please help me write a strong, high-converting LinkedIn profile summary. I’d like five unique options to choose from.
Each summary should be short and impactful - around 4 to 5 tight sentences. Use plain English, avoid jargon, and keep the tone confident and approachable.
Each version should clearly answer the following:
1. What do I do and talk about on LinkedIn?
2. Who am I, and what experience or results do I bring?
3. Why should someone work with me - what’s in it for them?
Here’s some background about me to include in the summary:
(Add more info here if required, or upload a doc outlining your business details. I shared my own company doc in yesterday's issue of Espresso AI, if you haven't yet seen it.)
– I’m a Virtual Assistant.
– I have [six years] of experience in the [construction] industry.
– I specialise in [insert niche services or skills].
– I’m proficient in [insert platforms, tools, or systems].
– My ideal client is [insert client type or industry].
Make the summaries punchy and specific. Use strong, clear language that makes me sound professional, capable, competent, and trustworthy.

Then review and edit the results, and refine the prompt if needed.

This prompt was taken from my post on how to write a standout VA LinkedIn profile. The post contains other useful advice, such as how to write your headline and job roles, personalise your connection requests, and create custom links.

⚠️ Price rise reminder

An enquiry has come in. A potential client needs a VA and wants to chat... what do you do?

You don't panic, that's what.

You simply download my Discovery Call and Onboarding Checklist, hold a slick consultation, land the client, and onboard them like the absolute pro they think you are.

The guide contains detailed steps, checklists, practical tips, and even a customisable onboarding email template to send to the client.

Currently £20, this guide will increase to £25 at noon on Monday (16th June), to bring it in line with my other downloads.

* This guide is included with the DIY VA course, so if you're a trainee, don't buy it!

My Favourite Thing This Week: Fimo

In a desperate bid to step away from the screen and bring some creativity into my life, I recently bought some Fimo polymer clay to play with.

There’s something deeply satisfying about squishing colours together and seeing what appears. Random blobs mostly, but it’s great fun nonetheless!

Have a great week.

Good morning Reader, This will be your last Coffee Break newsletter until September, as I'm making the most of the August lull to take a rare three-week break. I'll still be sending out Espresso AI, but otherwise, I’m sneaking off to chill out for a bit! This week's newsletter is a little different. Instead of my usual "three things for you" format, I’m sharing some ideas on how to use the next six weeks to get ahead in your business. You may just want to relax with your kiddywinks, but quiet...

Quick heads-up that all of my legal contracts (including the DPA and website policies) are in the process of being updated to reference the new Data Use and Access Act 2025 (DUAA), which recently came into force. The Act introduces significant changes to the UK's data protection framework, including amendments to the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). NOTES As usual, any previous buyers will be sent a link to access the...

Good morning Reader, I hope you're having a lovely week. I’ve just emerged from the fog of a horrendous stomach bug that wiped out three days of work and five pounds of body weight. To add to the fun, during a call, I mentioned that I still felt queasy, and my Mum thought it was the perfect time to tell me that my brother had come round the night before with chips and a kebab. Apparently, 'the smell really turned her stomach.' Thanks for that, Mum. 🤢 And on that note, it's time to settle down...
